“Music is the tool to express life – and all that makes a difference” – Herbie Hancock
Mixing
Mixing involves balancing individual tracks that include volume, frequencies, dynamics, compression, reverb, delay and spatial placement.
Each individual track should not be too loud or too soft or sit on top of each other in the frequency spectrum. Some tracks need sound closer to the listener while others are placed more in the background.
Mastering
Mastering is the final step in the production process. It involves adding the finishing touches to a song by enhancing the overall sound, creating consistency, and preparing it for distribution.
The goal of mastering is to ensure your audio will sound the best it can on all platforms, especially since music has never been consumed on more devices than today.
This crucial step ensures that the music will be heard the way it is
intended to be. A good mastering job makes also makes an album consistent and balanced across all its songs.
